Uckfield Bowls Club
Uckfield Bowls Club, founded in 1985, is a lawn bowls club with around 50 playing members and over 40 non-playing social members. We play from late April until the end of September. We enjoy a fixture programme of Friendly and League matches against many other clubs, some close neighbours but also many further afield in East and West Sussex. We pride ourselves on maintaining a friendly, informal environment for bowlers of all ages and abilities, while at the same time doing our best to be competitive. We can arrange high-quality coaching for our members, but there is always someone at the club willing to give advice and share their knowledge and experience. Club members can normally use the green for practice and casual bowling on any afternoon of the week during the season, whenever the green is not in use for matches. For those wishing to play more competitive bowls, then in addition to our friendly matches, we belong to three different bowls leagues (the Mid Sussex League, the John Spriggs League and the Horam & District League). The club also enters teams and individuals in numerous external competitions, whether at County and National levels or those organised by other clubs. We also hold internal competitions, in all formats of the game, and the popular season-long "Cameron-Waller Friendship Cup", held every Thursday evening for players of all abilities drawn at random into teams. All our competitions are listed on the Club Competitions page. Our membership includes a former Sussex County Champion. Our honours boards in the clubhouse show how the club has grown and celebrates our successes since our formation in 1985.
New Members: The Uckfield Bowls Club is keen to encourage new bowlers into the sport, and anyone wishing to take up the challenge and join our thriving bowling community will be made very welcome.
