Internal Club Competitions
The following internal competitions are run by the club during the outdoor playing season:

SALMON TROPHY:
Men’s Singles Championship; first player to reach 21 points.
The winner of this competition is entered into the Men's County Champion of Champions competition and also the Mid Sussex mixed Champion of Champions competition the following season.

MAYBILL CUP:
Ladies Singles Championship; first player to reach 21 points.
The winner of this competition is entered into the Women's County Champion of Champions competition and also the Mid Sussex mixed Champion of Champions competition the following season.

MAYORS CUP:
Handicap Mixed Singles;   first player to reach 21 points.
Handicap ratings range from 0 to 8. The handicap difference is placed on the scoreboard for the lower handicapped player at the start of the match.  For example, if player A has a handicap of 6 and player B's handicap is 4, the match will begin with the scoreboard set at 2 points for player B and 0 for player A so that the higher-handicapped player has to score the full 21 shots to win.

RALPH CUP:
Drawn Mixed Pairs;  maximum 21 ends played.

DORIS ALLEN CUP:
Drawn Mixed Australian Pairs;  maximum 18 ends played.
Australian Pairs is a variation of a pairs game, with changes in the bowling order.   The Leads play their first 2 bowls, then the Seconds play all their 4 bowls, then the Leads play their remaining two bowls to complete the end.  The Leads and Seconds then swap places for the next end, and this is repeated until the game ends.   All players will require a measure and chalk because those standing at the head at the completion of each end must decide the score.

ANNIVERSARY CUP:
Mixed Pairs;     maximum 21 ends played.
Married couples, cohabiting partners and other mixed pairs can enter this competition.

JOHN ASHBY CUP:
Mixed drawn 2-bowl Pairs;   first pair to reach 100 points.
Based on the ‘backbone’ competition – the four bowls nearest the Jack scoring 4, 3, 2 and 1 (total 10 points per end).

FRED KING CUP:
Two-bowl singles; maximum 21 ends to be played.
This competition changed from mixed drawn triples to two-bowl singles as of the 2022 season, following a proposal and successful vote at the club's 2021 Annual General Meeting.

ERNIE HOLLICK CUP:
Mixed drawn pairs;    maximum 21 ends played.
Open to members who have not won a competition at any club within the last 2 years (except the Ernie Hollick Cup itself).

CAMERON-WALLER FRIENDSHIP CUP
This is a season-long competition, held on Thursday evenings, in which teams are drawn at random and sized according to the total number of players available. Each pair of teams plays a game of 12 ends, and each player is awarded the final score attained by their team that evening, adding to their total of points throughout the competition that season. The winner at the close of season is the person who has accrued the most points; the scores from each person's ten highest scoring games being used to calculate their total.

Entrants for all competitions except the ERNIE HOLLICK CUP and the ANNIVERSARY CUP accrue points for the LES BARNES TROPHY, the winner being the player with the most overall points for the season.
